Trend for informal weddings means wildflowers and tepees are ‘in’

Brides and grooms getting married this and next year look set to be ditching traditional floral arrangements and, also, opting for relaxed venues.

We’re seeing an increase in informal bouquets and table arrangements using wildflowers and woodland foliage following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent wedding.

Couples are getting more experimental with their wedding arrangements. Green-themed bouquets using ferns and twigs from trees go exceptionally well with crisp, brilliant white outfits and old-fashioned, scented garden roses. It’s a fresh, modern and youthful combination, which is very fashionable right now.

Meghan went for forget-me-nots, white peonies and white garden roses in her bouquet, as well as foxgloves and branches of beech, birch and hornbeam to decorate the chapel at Windsor. We’re also seeing more greenery instead of fabric drapery for our outdoor wedding parties in our all-weather garden and to dress our 10-metre high tepee.

People are keen on lush greenery and that closeness to nature. There is a trend for an organic feel, rather than the informality that we’ve seen in previous years and the recent royal wedding has helped emphasise this, so we’re sure this will go into next year too.

Another trend we’re seeing more of this year is informal wedding breakfasts and receptions.

When it comes to party styles, couples are definitely going for a casual vibe, so we’ve seen an increase in demand for our tepee as a wedding venue. The trend for smaller tent-like structures instead of barn-like marquees has come over from the USA.

With this new garden party vibe comes the desire to offer guests lawn games to play, while also having al fresco lighting and chillout, outdoor lounge areas. The days of big dresses and formal morning suits in stuffy rooms, with everyone sitting on banquet chairs at those standard round tables, are on the wane.

We offer a beautiful venue away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s perfect for a simple, sophisticated wedding in a beautiful, yet quirky setting. Each wedding is tailored to the wishes of the couple, not an anonymous package. We allow flexibility, so couples can make it their own thing.

Being a friendly, independent business means we are open to customer requests and can react quickly and efficiently. We offer the perfect setting for fashionable, informal-style weddings with lovely backdrops for photos and we create menus that let the quality of the local produce we use in our kitchens shine through.

We can host events for 50 to more than 250 people including wedding breakfasts and celebrations.
