Don’t drink and drive…take our free bus instead
We’re backing the police’s annual Christmas and New Year drink drive crackdown by offering revellers a free bus ride during the festivities (December, 2017).
We’re inviting people who come in for an evening meal, Christmas lunch or to our New Year’s Eve party the chance to leave their cars at home.
We’re laying on a complimentary minibus for our customers who pre-book and come in groups to ensure they get home safely after spending time here at the pub or in our restaurant. The service offers local lifts back to central Portishead and Clevedon.
The bus is also running on a loop between the pub and our tapas bar and restaurant, Venga in Portishead in the High Street in Portishead for our Christmas Markets on Thursday evenings in December. The last one is on December 21 and the service runs from 4pm with the last bus back to Portishead at 9pm, so people can pop over for a mulled wine, sangria, champagne or cider, as well as doing some last-minute Christmas shopping and supporting local makers and producers. There will be a whole host of stallholders selling a range of festive goods and gifts too.
We also hope groups of revellers will make use of the bus when they book for our Christmas Party Menu. We’ve got roast breast of British turkey with all the trimmings on the menu, but we also do a potato crusted parsnip and chestnut hotpot & seasonal vegetables, a four-hour slow-cooked blade of beef, horseradish mash and seasonal vegetables or salmon dish, or a pan-fried fillet of sea bass, chorizo and puy lentils. We’re well-known for our food but also offer a whole host of wines from all over the world and local, artisan gins and beers, so people do come and enjoy a drink here too and that’s why it’s important to offer this bus service.
