Rock Choir to perform at our Christmas market

Forty members of Rock Choir from Somerset and North Somerset will be performing at our Christmas market on Thursday, December 6 to entertain shoppers.

Xander-Jaymes Le Petit, professional Vocal Coach from Portishead, who runs the choir in the county, explained: “Rock Choir is an award-winning choir that offers local contemporary group-singing to more than 400 communities, country-wide including here in Somerset, where we have members from Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater.

“Since its creation in 2005 it has offered its members exciting and life-affirming experiences that have led to an increase in health and well-being, a busy social life, new friends and extraordinary experiences.

“It changed the musical landscape of the country allowing anyone to take part without the need to audition or read music. The popularity of Rock Choir has grown to a staggering 28,000 and it has become a well-loved and respected British brand with music and friendship at the heart of it.”

Xander-Jaymes started his journey with Rock Choir in January 2018 and has seen success with more than 200 members attending his weekly, term-time choir sessions running in Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater.

He added: “Following Rock Choir’s recent performance at the opening of BBC Proms in The Park this year, including a 10,000-member Flash Mob, the members of Rock Choir in Somerset & North Somerset are excited to be back in their local communities spreading joy and music everywhere they go and are very much looking forward to the Christmas Market at The White Hart on December 6!”

Once again this year, we’re running a series of festive markets outdoors in December in our all-weather garden and tepee. They take place on Thursday, December 6, 13 and 20 from 6pm until 9pm. Admission is free. Find out more here.
